Insurance StrategiesSM for Disasters
Natural and man-made catastrophes present a complex class of insurance problems since disasters are difficult to predict in location, time, and severity. In addition, disaster mitigation efforts are typically uncoordinated, and the funding of disaster relief and reconstruction for some perils is problematic. Insurance agents and brokers can assist their clients in disaster preparedness and in managing potential losses through the use of insurance. This course overviews "All Risk" property insurance (and its exclusion of important "disaster" perils), flood insurance, pollution insurance, earthquake insurance, and "difference in conditions" (DIC) insurance.
